Join us on WhatsAppEight vehicles were involved in a crash on the M62 with one man left with life-threatening injuries - as drivers were left trapped on the motorway tarmac for at least 10 hours.
The crash took place on the M62 eastbound just before Junction 23, near Huddersfield, at around 5.41pm on Thursday, May 29. Massive, snaking queues were seen building up as the road was
completely shut until 2.30am on Friday morning - forcing drivers to sleep in their cars.
The crash involved eight vehicles, including one motorbike ridden by a 51-year-old man. This man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and he is currently in a critical
condition. After the crash, the M62 eastbound was closed until the early hours of this morning.
An investigation into the crash has been taking place, and now officers at the Roads Policing Unit are looking to speak to any witnesses, or anyone who has footage. They said: "Police are
appealing for witnesses following a serious injury collision on the M62 motorway yesterday (Thursday).
"It happened on the eastbound carriageway, just before the Junction 23 exit slip road at about 5.41pm and involved eight vehicles. A motorbike rider was taken to hospital with what are
described as life-threatening injuries. The 51-year-old man is said to be in a critical condition today (Friday).
"Enquiries into the collision, which led to the carriageway being closed until around 1am today, are continuing and officers at the Roads Policing Unit are keen to speak with anyone who
witnessed it, or anyone who may have footage to assist this investigation."
