The schoolgirl missing after falling into a West Yorkshire reservoir had been taking photographs with her dad during a half-term walk, according to witnesses. West Yorkshire Police,

alongside other specialist emergency teams, have been scouring the reservoir in Ripponden without success since yesterday at 1.20pm. The 13-year-old has been described as having "a

really bright future" and was enjoying a stroll with her father during the school break when she tumbled over the edge. Her devastated father was seen clutching his chest and screaming

her name before being taken away in an ambulance. Sue Ferris, 80, whose home offers a view of the scene, comforted the family following the heartbreaking tragedy. FOLLOW LIVE UPDATES ON THE

life buoy rings anywhere on the parapet. "Yorkshire Water added the white metal railings on top of the stone structure some years ago now but it only adds about half a foot to the

barrier height and actually helps people to climb onto the wall. It gives them something to grip on to. All it is doing, is helping people to stand on the wall," reports the Mirror.

Emergency services raced to the reservoir by 1.20pm on Wednesday, with the search operation extended into the evening in hopes of locating the girl. Police Regional Marine and Underwater

Search units have since reassembled at the dam today to press on with their search efforts. Mrs Ferris, who has been in contact with the family of the girl, shared that they were enjoying

half term when the tragedy struck. "She had just got into grammar school, they told me," she said. "They were very proud of her. She had a really bright future. "It was

just dad and daughter at the reservoir when she fell in. The rest of the family came after the accident. Dad had been taking photographs, according to a witness, and he also heard dad

screaming and shouting her name after she fell in - but he did not go into the water. "He had some kind of heart problem and was clutching his chest soon afterwards and was taken away

by ambulance." This afternoon (Thursday, May 5) a police spokesperson said: "Searches are continuing today after a teenage girl was reported to have fallen into water at Baitings

Dam near Ripponden. "Emergency services were called to the dam at 1.17pm yesterday afternoon (28/5). Police, fire and ambulance were initially deployed to the scene, but the girl could

not be located. Underwater search teams are continuing with their attempts to locate her today." Calderdale District Police are urging anyone with information that could aid the search

efforts to get in touch online or call 101, quoting police log 797." _GET ALL THE LATEST AND BREAKING HUDDERSFIELD NEWS STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX BY_ _ SIGNING UP TO OUR DAILY NEWSLETTER
