The man charged after a car ploughed through crowds at the Liverpool victory parade has been named and pictured for the first time. Paul Doyle, 53, of Burghill Road in West Derby, is to


appear in court tomorrow (Friday, May 30) after being charged with seven offences in connection with the crash. Fans celebrating Liverpool FC's title win were struck as they gathered on


Water Street in Liverpool city centre shortly after 6pm on Monday (May 26). Mr Doyle was identified after detectives were given more time to quiz him. Police were stationed outside his


family home throughout Thursday, the Mirror reports. Police said seven people are still recovering in hospital after a Ford Galaxy people carrier is believed to have struck crowds just after


the parade finished around 6pm. Mr Doyle has been remanded into custody after being charged with the following: * two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous


bodily harm * two counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm * two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily


harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm * one count of dangerous driving. Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said during a press conference: “As always, our


thoughts remain with all of those injured and affected by this appalling incident, which took place during the Liverpool Football Club parade on Monday. “As you have heard from our CPS


colleagues, the man arrested by Merseyside Police following the incident on Water Street has now been charged with seven serious offences. "I fully understand how this incident has left


us all shocked and saddened, and I know many will continue to have concerns and questions. Our detectives are working tirelessly, with diligence and professionalism to seek the answer to


all of those questions. When we are able to we will provide further information.” She continued: "Now that Paul Doyle has been charged, we ask that the judicial process be allowed to


continue without any speculation online or anywhere else that could impede the pursuit of justice for all of those affected. “This continues to be a large and complex investigation, and


detectives are reviewing a huge volume of CCTV and mobile phone footage submitted by the public and businesses, as well as footage from our own body worn cameras and dash cams.” _
