Louise Minchin, 50, took to Twitter to update her 160,000 followers on her progress with an “Xtreme Triathlon” challenge this morning. The BBC Breakfast presenter embarked on her journey in
Norway in the early hours alongside 12-time Ironman Triathlon champion Lucy Gossage, 39. The duo posed for a photo together with their arms around each other on the boat while wearing
wetsuits. Louise and Lucy beamed for the camera as the sun began to rise in the background. The journalist clutched onto a banana on the ferry, which she appeared to be saving for an energy
boost. Louise captioned the snap: “Utter madness with @lucygoss. “Ok a ferry again!! Here we go here we go. @nxtri.” The Norseman Xtreme Triathlon involves a swim starting from the loading
bay of a car ferry, to cycling 180 kilometres through the mountains, and finishing with a 42.2 kilometre run and a climb up a local mountain. Fans commented on Louise’s post to share their
good luck wishes with the BBC favourite ahead of the triathlon. One wrote: “You’re crazy, but good luck all same Louise.” Another added: “Wishing you both the best of luck. Have a blast!!”
“Good luck you know that all the pain will be over the minute you cross the finish line xx,” a third person commented. A fourth replied: “Good luck Louise! Go smash it so inspirational x.”
Louise opened up about her goals for the year to BBC Breakfast back in April. The programme’s official Twitter page posted a photo of the presenter, who revealed: “My goal of this year is to
safely jump off a ferry and complete the extreme triathlon, Norseman.” The star is taking on the gruelling challenge to raise money for mental health charity, Mind. Louise recently thanked
“generous” people for making donations to the cause as she shared photos from Norway before the triathlon. In one post, Louise was pictured wearing a rain mac whilst standing in front of a
ferry. She tweeted: “Thanks to everyone sponsoring my attempt to complete @nxtri for @MindCharity you are very generous, I can’t work out how to send individual messages, but I am reading
them all. “Penny, Lizzie, Audrey, Carmel, Andy, Miriam, John thank you. I think the ferry is bigger than this!” _BBC BREAKFAST AIRS ON BBC ONE FROM 6AM._
