Cut to Germany where despite the fact the country is heading for a third wave and another lockdown, 66-year-old Chancellor Angela Merkel is still refusing to have the AstraZeneca jab because

Germany has decreed it doesn't work in older people, despite a tsunami of evidence to the contrary.

So, because of Merkel's public opposition to A/Z, the German people don't want it and 1.3 million supplies remain unused despite the fact that infections and deaths are rocketing. But hey,

Mrs Merkel needed to support her halfwitted compadre, Emmanuel Macron, who rubbished the A/Z vaccine when he and the combined might of the EU were unable to commandeer (steal) our supplies

of it last month.

So, because HE couldn't have it, this poisonous little twerp told the world it was useless. Although he wasn't saying that when he was trying to get his grubby paws on it.

The upshot is no one in France wants the AstraZeneca jab either. Less than 10 percent of the population has been vaccinated and a third wave seems inevitable there too.

The biggest irony now is that with deaths rocketing, a desperate Macron is trying to "rehabilitate" the A/Z jab, insisting it DOES work having persuaded the French people it doesn't.

So, the stupidity of both leaders has cost lives.

But they don't give a stuff about that - only about protecting the bloc and sticking two fingers up at "Lil Ol' Britain" which, unlike the incompetent EU, managed to order enough vaccines to

protect its people.

And the result is that in Blighty there's a 90 percent take up of the vaccine - which is fantastic.

But Her Maj wants better than that - like she did in 1957 after parents here were frightened to have their kids inoculated against polio after some American children died from it. So she

announced that Prince Charles and Princess Anne had been vaccinated. It made headlines at the time because it was one of the few public interventions the Queen, who as head of state is

supposed to remain politically neutral, had made during her reign.

What she did back then was seen as a big deal. As is what she did this week, because unlike Macron and Merkel, the Queen has never been about personal ambition - only the greater good.

So, at times like these, yes, we should thank God for the Queen, whose priority is, and always has been, the British people. But also for the fact we've now left the EU. Imagine where we'd

be now if we were still taking orders from those incompetent, ineffective, unelected clowns in Brussels.

As German's biggest selling newspaper Bild said on its front page this week: "Dear Brits - we envy you. You return to normality on June 21 - and here there is no hope." Says it all...
