The hotly-anticipated sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man is released this summer, following Black Panther and Avengers Infinity War, but some Marvel fans have been wondering where it come in the

timeline. The first trailer arrived today and starts with Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang reflecting on being part of Team Cap in Captain America: Civil War. Much of the footage suggests he’s on the

run with Hank Pym and The Wasp, however there’s no sign of Thanos invading the Earth. But it turns out the film’s synopsis explains exactly when Ant-Man and the Wasp is set – right after

Civil War, so presumably before Avengers Infinity War. It reads: “Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang tries to balance his home life as a father with his

responsibilities as Ant-Man, when Hope van Dyne and Hank Pym present him with a new mission to bring to light secrets from their past, requiring him to team up with van Dyne as the new

Wasp.” At end of Civil War, Lang was imprisoned alongside other Team Cap members, before Steve Rogers appeared to free them. So presumably Ant-Man and the Wasp is set around a year, or at

least a number of months, before the events of Avengers Infinity War. With this in mind, it’s worth pointing out that none of the three main Ant-Man characters appeared in the Avengers

Infinity War trailer.
