Resident Evil 8 is the next chronological entry to Capcom's smash-hit survival horror series, and would theoretically follow the studio's 2017 first-person shooter set in the Baker's house
of horrors. However, Capcom's recent focus on remaking some of its landmark games has meant fans are yet to see a glimpse of a new numbered entry, but some rumours have emerged.
Recent rumours suggest a Resident Evil 8 announcement is on the horizon from Capcom.
According to these rumours, Capcom has titled the upcoming game Resident Evil 8: Village.
Village will allegedly combine Resident Evil 7's first-person perspective and storyline with the eerie Resident Evil 4 backdrop.

Much like Leon Kennedy's second outing, Resident Evil 8 will also take place in Europe, according to a report from BiohazardCast.com and lean heavily on the folk horror genre.
BiohazardCast confirmed an "anonymous caller" told them the story would follow Chris Redfield, stalked by the "witch", a character which fills the role of Resident Evil 3's Nemesis.
According to YouTuber AestheticGamer, sources revealed to him the game would focus on subjects Resident Evil "purists" may take issue with.
He said: "It is first-person, and many purists are going to hate it because it's taking some serious departures in the story/enemies and the like."

"Hallucinations, Occultism, insanity, and not being able to trust others are huge thematics of the game."
Capcom has not confirmed whether the rumours are true, telling GameInformer they "don’t comment on rumours and speculation".
Since then, however, other rumours have developed another Resident Evil remake is in the works.

According to Video Game Chronicle, "multiple sources" have revealed a remake of Resident Evil 4 is in the works.
The rumours claim the fan-favourite game will get the same treatment as Resident Evil 2 and 3.
VGC's sources added the game is in full production with a prospective release year of 2022.
The game will see a larger development team than its predecessors, however, and is in the hands of a different director.
Capcom's original game came out in 2004 to widespread acclaim, and it remains the developers' highest-rated with an aggregated score of 96 on Metacritic.
The story followed Leon Kennedy as he fought against the Los Illuminados cult in Spain, and saw a departure from the title's desolate survival theme.
Instead of shambling lone-zombies, Capcom introduced teeming hordes of cultists and the chainsaw-wielding Dr Salvador.
The game has since received the porting treatment, appearing on platforms such as the Xbox, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, after its initial PS2 release.
