Richard 'Moggy' Morgan, presenter of Quest’s new Vintage Voltage series said rebuilding the classic car was a “challenge”. The biggest issue was trying to get the new electronic
motor to fit in the tight engine compartment. However, once completed the car retained all of its retro vibes with the performance of a 21st century electric vehicle. The vehicle was
upgraded for enthusiastic owner Simon who wanted to hand the car down to his daughters. Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “We put a Tesla motor in that Mini and that was a squeeze.

it’s just given you all that power without the negatives of trying to keep those things alive all the time.” Vintage Voltage follows the team at Electric Classic Cars as they upgrade bygone
classics to modern machines. Mr Morgan will upgrade a range of models during the series including a classic DeLorean, VW camper Van and Land Rover. Electric Classic Cars have previously said
there are huge benefits to converting a historic vehicle. They warn drivers could save money on fuel bills, road tax and congestion charges by upgrading their car. Maintenance and servicing
costs could also be cut with a new electric drive system installed. However, the cost of converting an electric model is huge with drivers set to spend thousands on upgrades. EV conversion
experts Electrogenic said they have previously done a Mini conversion for around £35,000.
