Restaurants and cafes have taken a hit in recent months as they had to close their doors when the coronavirus put the country into lockdown. But as chains slowly start to reopen, they’re
also looking to expand their offering to find new revenue streams. As Pret starts to open its stores across the UK, the company has also announced its first ever retail coffee range is
available to order on Amazon. The new range is a first for Pret, as the brand gives its coffee fans the chance to become their own barista. The sandwich chain is launching three organic
coffee products which will be available to order on Amazon as well as to buy in Pret stores, which have already begun opening around the UK. The three coffees include Pret’s Organic Classic
Blend Ground Coffee (500g), Pret’s Organic Single-Origin Peruvian Ground Coffee (500g), and Pret’s Organic Espresso Beans (1kg). The ground coffee is just £9.50 a bag, while the beans cost
£16.99. READ MORE: DALGONA COFFEE: HOW TO MAKE THE NEW LOCKDOWN TREND The three products cater for all tastes with a light, medium and dark coffee in the range. The ground coffee can be
used with any cafetiere so Pret customers can make their own morning coffee at home as they stay indoors for the lockdown. The Organic Classic Blend Ground Coffee is Pret’s signature filter
blend, while the Organic Espresso Beans are used in store to make the brand’s cappuccinos. The beans are also used for its lattes, so customers can recreate the menu from home. Following
an initial opening of just 10 stores near London hospitals, Pret now has 101 outlets open around the UK. The stores are open for delivery and takeaway only, using apps such as Just Eat and
Deliveroo to get their menu to their customers. The chain has also put social distancing measures in place in stores to help protect its staff and customers from the virus. Writing on the
website, CEO Pano Christou said: “The Pret experience for both our customers and teams will continue to feel very different. For example, each shop will be fitted with Perspex screens at the
tills, we will restrict the number of customers in our shops, we’ll provide hand sanitiser for customers, and face coverings to our Team Members who prefer to wear one.”
