could save money every month. Here are some tips from Kevin Mountford, co-founder of online saving solution Raisin.co.uk. 1. Transfer your everyday spending into your savings accounts If
your job required you to commute before the lockdown, why not save that amount in a current savings account to transfer the spending. Instead of getting into the mindset that you actually
have more money, act as if you have commuted to work, and put that money into your savings. 2. Ask for help as early as possible A lot of the UK will be in a similar position where either
work has dried up, they are on furlough or are unable to work due to self-isolation. If you are in this position it’s important to seek help where possible and don’t wait too long to do so.
3. Take advantage of mortgage, rent and other pay holidays If you are struggling to meet payments on mortgages, credit cards and loans make sure you get in touch with the bank/building
society before you miss a payment so it doesn’t impact your credit score. As of March 17th, the UK government announced all mortgage/loan providers should provide a three month payment
holiday. This would be added on to the end of your term but means that you can suspend payments without being charged. Sky is allowing customers to pause your sports TV package whilst all
games are suspended. 4. Flights and holidays - ask for a credit note for the future if you’re able to Understandably the travel industry is under immense pressure due to COVID-19 with many
airlines such as Flybe and Virgin Australia not being able to ride out the storm and having to go into administration. Airlines and travel companies are offering credit notes, which I advise
if you are in the situation to do so and save the holiday for the future. If you would like a refund over a credit note the brands aren’t making this easy but keep being persistent on
customer service lines you will be able to get through but it might take a little longer than usual.
