Morrisons will extend its Amazon Prime Now service across the UK's largest cities by the end of May. While many would never think to order groceries via Amazon, the coronavirus lockdown is

making this commonplace.

In March, Morrisons was operating Amazon Prime delivery from 17 stores.

Now it has been rolled out at over 40 stores, and 90 percent of Amazon Prime members in Greater London can get the service.

While online supermarket customers used to have to book a time slot for delivery, shake ups in the industry mean Britons can now order groceries and expect them the same day.

Morrisons is not the only supermarket offering food on the Amazon Prime platform.

Marks & Spencer, Aldi and Co-op are also offering groceries in this way.

Additionally, high street coffee shop Pret a Manger has announced a retail range on Amazon UK.

While speedy deliveries are ramped up for the everyday shopper during lockdown, some are putting their efforts into helping the vulnerable.

Amid the COVID-19 lockdown, the elderly and those especially vulnerable to respiratory illness have been advised to stay inside.

But now, supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose have signed up for a new delivery scheme to help vulnerable customers get food delivered quickly.

British Red Cross is working with UK microgifting platform Huggg.

It enables vulnerable Britons to purchase a digital supermarket voucher and fill out a shopping list.

A volunteer will subsequently deliver the groceries to their door.

Morrisons has recently updated its rules on limits in stores.

It said: "To ensure more customers have access to everyday essentials we are introducing a restriction of only 5 items per customer on every product line online.

"Where products are on a multi buy, e.g. 10 for £3, you can still enjoy the offer if you buy a combination of 10 products in the same offer but you will be limited to 5 of any variety in

that offer."
