Brenda Blethyn has played the title character in the drama Vera since 2011. She is thought to have a huge sum of money in the bank through her various acting roles. In the early days of her
career, she made money as a stenographer and bookkeeper for a bank. However, in the late 1970s, she began to pursue her acting career. This saw the star perform in various productions on
London stages. Brenda found success in these roles and soon won the London Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress. DON'T MISS In 1980, she had her first on
screen role performing in the play Grown Ups for BBC. After this, the actress continued to star in more on screen adaptations for TV, including Henry VI, Part 1 and King Lear. Over the
following years, Brenda went on to work in both stage and small screen productions. However it was not until 1990 she landed a feature film role and she had a part in The Witches. The
75-year-old has earned money through appearances in films such as Pride & Prejudice, Pumpkin, Lovely and Amazing and Beyond the Sea. She also had notable roles in films including
Atonement, Clubland and Saving Grace. Many will know the talented actress for her leading part in the crime drama series Vera. Brenda has played DCI Vera Stanhope in the show for 10 years.
