From the likes of Marilyn Monroe to broadcaster Mariella Frostrup, these celebrities truly believed that wearing your bra to bed will prevent your breasts from sagging. Whilst other myths

suggested that actually wearing your bra to bed is the cause of sagging. But now, expert Dr Seth Rankin, has put theses theories to bed saying they will do very little to stop them drooping

downwards. In fact, he said as people age, the breast tissue loses its elasticity so it is inevitable that your breasts will begin to sag. And wearing a bra will have very little impact on

preventing this from happing. “When you’re lying down flat, the effect of gravity pushes the breast tissue back towards your chest, instead of down towards your toes,” he told Cosmopolitan.

Dr Rankin, who is from the London’s Doctor’s Clinic, has even claimed that wearing this underwear could also be dangerous. He said bras can restrict the lymph glands that help flush toxins

away from the breasts. The lymph glands drain by-products such as oestrogen away from the breasts and deliver them to your liver or kidneys to be broken down. Dr Rankin explained: “The same

goes for the lymphatic system; a tight bra may restrict the flow of lymph to the many important lymph nodes around the breast and armpit, hindering the system’s vital function of flushing

toxic waste-products from the body.” Professor Mokbel also confirmed this theory and said that wearing a bra to bed can actually affect the “physiology” of the breast. He also urged women to

avoid wearing too tight bras.
