Royal children are often gifted properties by the monarch when they marry - and the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie Wessex, are no exception to the rule. Prince

Charles was given Highgrove when he married Princess Diana in 1981, and Princess Anne was given Gatcombe Park some years after she married Captain Mark Phillips in 1976. However, Sophie

Wessex and her husband Prince Edward hit the jackpot when it comes to their royal residence. Boasting 120 rooms, the Wessex family live in one of the largest royal residences that is not a

main property of the Queen - Bagshot Park. The Earl and Countess of Wessex have lived at Bagshot Park for more than 20 years. The couple moved there after their wedding in 1999. The

residence has largely been kept private from royal watchers, and the park which the house sits on is not open to the public. The huge home is located in Surrey, not far from Woking and

Farnborough. It is also only 11 miles away from Windsor, where the Queen spends a considerable amount of time, especially during the coronavirus crisis. The Countess of Wessex has also

explained that their children, James and Louise, spend a lot of time with their grandmother due to the proximity of their homes. In an interview with Sky News, Sophie revealed,

"We're a lot more fortunate because we live so close to the Queen, so when she spends a lot of time at Windsor at weekends, our children are more fortunate, because they can go

over and have tea with her on a regular basis."
