Researchers found buying a property was high on the list of achievements for young people, with 55 per cent saying they should have bought a home by their thirties.   However, about

two-thirds, 66 per cent, of the 2,200 adults asked felt they would be “a failure” if they did not own a home by then.   After getting their feet on the property ladder, 87 per cent thought

people should be married by 40.   The research on types of life stresses also saw 53 per cent list “making a success of their career” as weighing on their minds, while 35 per cent also felt

pressurised to have a family. Michael Bruce, at estate agents Purplebricks.com, who carried out the survey said: “People are delaying getting on the property ladder due to the large deposits

that are required.”
