Samsung will unveil its next generation Galaxy S8 smartphone on March 29th and it looks set to be an incredibly exciting device. Rumours and leaks have revealed the S8 flagship phone will

feature an edge-to-edge screen, updated camera and the fastest processor ever seen in an Android device. The S8 will also arrive in two sizes with the standard model including a 5.8-inch

display and the large S8+ version packing a giant 6.2-inch AMOLED screen into its glass and metal shell. Other rumours suggest a fingerprint scanner on the rear of phone, iris scanning and a

home button embedded under the screen. However, there is one feature we know won't be included on the S8 - superfast 5G download speeds. Samsung announced during its Mobile World

Congress 2017 press conference that it's working on this new mobile technology which will bring speeds faster than home broadband to portable devices. Samsung will begin trails of 5G

later this year but it's unlikely customers will see the benefits until at least 2018. Speaking about the technology, Youngky Kim, President and Head of Networks Business at Samsung

Electronics, said: “We are excited to deliver the first end-to-end 5G connectivity in the United States with Verizon, “This represents a major leap forward in offering 5G fixed wireless

access to consumers. "The 5G challenges we will address, and the customer feedback we receive will help lay the foundation for future business models and customer applications.” SAMSUNG

TEASE NEW GALAXY PHONE Along with 5G in smartphones, Samsung is also planning to bring these superfast speeds to homes. The Korean technology firm wants to beam this technology into living

rooms meaning fixed-line broadband could become a thing of the past. This could help areas that are currently struggling to get decent speeds via their current broadband supplier. Paul

Kyungwhoon Cheun, Executive Vice President and Head of Next Generation Communications Business Team at Samsung Electronics, said: “With pre-commercial deployment of our 5G products already

underway in the US, we’re starting to see some of the earliest evidence of the potential for new and compelling 5G-driven services. "It will be exciting to see it evolve as we move

forward on our roadmap.” SAMSUNG Showcased products at MWC 2017 included consumer devices for fixed wireless access connectivity, a 5G Radio Base Station (5G Access Unit), Next-Generation

Core Network infrastructure and more. With pre-commercial versions of the equipment already under deployment in trial networks across the globe, Samsung’s commercial 5G portfolio is backed

by a continually growing foundation of experience, knowledge and concrete trial results.
