A legal bid spearheaded by SNP MP Joanna Cherry QC and Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson seeking to prevent Mr Johnson from proroguing Parliament began today at the Court of Session in

Edinburgh, with other parallel attempts launched by businesswoman Gina Miller in London and anti-Brexit campaigner Raymond McCord in Northern Ireland. A cross-party group of around 70 MPs

and peers are backing Ms Cherry and Ms Swinson’s legal bid after beginning a legal move earlier in the summer when they filed a petition aiming to stop Mr Johnson being able to prorogue

Parliament. However, Express.co.uk’s poll revealed a vast majority of readers were opposed to their attempts to frustrate the Prime Minister. Out of a total of 8,732 votes, and overwhelming

7,989 - amounting to 91 percent - felt the complainants were overstepping the mark. By contrast, just 701 - eight percent - felt Ms Swinson, Ms Miller and the others were justified in their

actions, with a further one percent undecided. One reader commented: “It’s got nothing to do with the courts whatsoever, we haven’t got a written constitution and that’s their problem. He’s

shutting Parliament down for an extra four days and it’s only the remoaners who because they are now losing the argument they’ve decided between themselves that they want to sit through the

conference season period so they can stop Brexit, nothing more nothing less. “They themselves have pulled a fast one time and again over the last three years and now they cannot believe

they’ve been out played by someone they considered and labelled an oaf. JUST IN: LABOUR HARD LEFT CALLS ON FOLLOWERS TO 'OCCUPY BRIDGES AND ROADS' A third appeared to advocate the

arrest of all concerned, saying: “The loser Remainers are to blame for all of this and it’s time they paid for their treachery. “Plotting to bring down a PM is an act of sedition and they

should all be charged with that crime. “This cannot go on with them using every devious trick in the book to get what they want.” Another agreed, saying: “What we are seeing is something

really quite sinister. “These are anti democratic forces within our midst working to undermine and circumvent our democracy. “Why are the police and MI5 not taking this matter seriously.” In

Scotland, the applicants are seeking an interim interdict, which would stop the Prime Minister taking the option of suspension until a final decision has been made on the case. Meanwhile,

Ms Miller, who won a landmark ruling that MPs would have to vote before the Government could invoke Article 50 to formally start the UK’s exit process from the EU, has made an urgent

application for a judicial review at the High Court in London which a judiciary spokeswoman said on Thursday was being considered. At Belfast High Court, campaigner Raymond McCord has also

launched a legal bid to issue an injunction against the move by Mr Johnson. Mr McCord, whose emergency injunction application was adjourned for 24 hours, was already pursing legal

proceedings against the potential proroguing of Parliament. The Express.co.uk poll went live at at 1.40pm and closed at 9.15pm on August 29.
