The King owns a holiday home in Viscri, as well as at least nine other properties in the region, none of which have any television sets or radios. It is thought Charles will spend his time

walking through the beautiful hills and painting. While the trip is mainly for a short holiday, President Klaud Iohannis will officially welcome Charles at his residence Cortroceni Palace,

near Bucharest, according to The Sun. The King has often spoken fondly of the area, saying last June: "There is a sense of age-old continuity here. A virtuous circle where man and

nature are in balance." On his first visit in 1998, the new monarch said he was "totally overwhelmed by its unique beauty and its extraordinary heritage." The area is renowned

for its pretty pastel-coloured houses and the Viscri UNESCO World Heritage church, attracting many tourists who are also able to stay in some of the holiday cottages owned by Charles.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the King is planning to make an official royal visit to Kenya later this year, his first trip to the Commonwealth since ascending to the throne. It is

expected to be an emotional trip for Charles, as it was in Kenya when his mother Queen Elizabeth heard about the death of her father George VI and became the sovereign. A source told the

Mail on Sunday: "It will be a poignant moment. Inevitably it will be a reminder of his young mother at the start of her reign. Now, he is at the start of his, but he has the advantage

of experience, too. "It will also be an important marker for his reign that will underline how importantly he views the Commonwealth. "His Majesty wants to bring people together.

He knows the relationship will change between the Royal Family and the realms and other Commonwealth countries, but is keen to preserve and protect the common values." Although Charles

is not recognised as the Head of State in Kenya, where William Ruto is the President, it is still an important member of the Commonwealth.
