The US President announced last week on Twitter US troops deployed to Syria will be returning home after nearly four years of providing support to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighting

to bring the Assad Government down. United States allies have warned the Islamic State (ISIS) could exploit the withdrawal of American troops to regain control over the areas they lost to

the US-led coalition in Syria. Despite widespread condemnation, Trump does not seem to have changed his mind. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt took a swipe at the US President yesterday,

claiming IS, also known as Daesh, have been pushed back but still pose a threat and that Trump tends to oversimplifying global issue. Mr Hunt told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Thursday:

“President Trump makes a speciality out of talking in very black and white terms about what’s happening in the world. “I think the UK assessment is that we have made massive progress in the

war against Daesh but it’s not over. “Although they have lost nearly all the territory they held, they still hold some territory and there are still some real risks.” The Foreign Secretary

confirmed Britain’s special forces will continue with the mission against the terror group. Mr Hunt added: “We have to continue to be vigilant, we don’t believe we can be at all complacent

in the situation we’re in.” On Boxing day, the US President stood by his decision to withdraw the US troops during his visit to military personnel in Iraq. Trump told troops at the Baghdad

base: "We're no longer the suckers, folks. "We're respected again as a nation. "We’ve knocked them silly.” He added: “The United States cannot continue to be the

policeman of the world. “It’s not fair when the burden is all on us. "We are in countries people haven’t even heard about.”
