Ed Balls, a former Shadow Chancellor for Ed Miliband, said he would barely mark Jeremy Corbyn five out of ten for suffering a humiliating defeat in the December general election which saw
some Labour seats turn blue for the first time in history. Despite this, Labour leadership candidate Rebecca Long-Bailey, who is seen as “continuity Corbyn”, defended the Labour leader. LBC
host Nick Ferrari asked Mr Balls his thoughts on Ms Long-Bailey’s rating of Jeremy Corbyn’s general election campaign. He said: “Anybody who gives Jeremy Corbyn ten out of ten is deluded.
"I actually think that, of all the candidates, Rebecca Long-Bailey has shown real improvements with her performance in parliament and on TV in the last few years. "I don't
know her. There's part of me that likes her, there's a glint in her eye which I quite like. “At the moment, her politics don't chime with mine. And the idea that Labour should
spend the next three years mired in huge internal fights about selecting MPs - that was rejected when Tony Benn suggested it in the 1980s in the darkest period of Labour's history
until now. That's not the way to do things." READ MORE: LABOUR HOPEFUL'S CAMPAIGN IN TATTERS AFTER TORY COMMENT Asked for his rating out of ten for Mr Corbyn, Mr Balls said:
"He had the worst defeat since 1935. “I’m not going to put a number on it, but it's markedly less than five." Sir Keir Starmer, Rebecca Long-Bailey, Lisa Nandy and Emily
Thornberry are battling to become to the next Labour Party leader which will be decided the beginning of April. A furious LBC caller labelled the Labour Party as "poor" in a brutal
rant and told host James O'Brien Boris Johnson "can do what he pleases" and won't lose votes. The LBC host replied: "This is a really liberal immigration policy
that lots of people thought would not happen under Boris Johnson. "Now how do those people feel about being betrayed by him again?" The caller argued: "We don't care. He
can do what he likes because at the end of the day, we could have another vote next week and until the Labour Party offers an alternative, he can do what he pleases." Gary added: “The
Labour Party seem to think that they are representative of the 60 million people in this country and they are not."
