Polling expert Sir John Curtice argued the Labour Party would be having an internal argument on how important it is to win back the Brexiteer and working-class voters it lost in the last

election. While on talkRADIO Sir John explained all the candidates in the Labour leadership race were Remainers who would have to choose whether they would backtrack on their views to win

back Leavers in the north. In an alarming prediction for Labour Leave voters, he added the Labour Party could elect to ignore the Brexit, ageing and working-class voters it previously held

in exchange for the young university graduates. Sir John said: “The vast bulk of Labour members are pro-Remain. “There will be a debate between the candidates about how then the party needs

to position itself with respect to Brexit. “Keir Starmer will be regarded as the most pro-Brexit of the group. “Perhaps Lisa Nandy is the one who has expressed the most concern about its

position. DON'T MISS: EU CHIEF SAYS BLOC WILL GIVE UK ‘LARGE ACCESS TO THE SINGLE MARKET’  “But at the end of the day, none of them have fully signed up members of the Eurosceptic

tendency. “To that extent, it will come down to tactics. “I think in the end there is a broader issue that lies behind this Labour Party is where do we go from where we are? “They find

themselves as a party that is still relatively popular amongst younger people and university graduates. “Or can you hope to get them back by emphasising a domesticated agenda on inequality.

“Secondly, there is going to be a debate on how important it is to get them back. “This is given that this party is now successful among younger university graduates. “Perhaps that is the

future of the Labour Party. So both of those arguments are going to be going on.”
