Sandra McGowan, 62, was attacked at her home in Dundee on Valentine's day, where the suspected burglar severed her hand with a knife in order to steal a ring on her finger, Glasgow High
Court heard.Stephen Brisbane, 33, allegedly entered the elderly lady's home 'uninvited' in February, on Valentine's Day, and viciously assaulting and attacking her.The alleged attacker then
stole Ms McGowan's severed hand to "rob her of a ring" as he attacked the pensioner, causing her to fall unconscious and knocking her off her wheelchair.Officials claim Brisbane did not get
medical help for Ms Gowan, following the alleged attack.
Brisbane has been accused of trespassing Ms McGowan's home before making off with several items, including a mobile phone and a door fob, the High Court in Glasgow heard.Prosecutors claimed
he grabbed the elderly woman's wrist and started to "sever her right hand from her body with a knife".

Brisbane is accused of assaulting Ms McGowan to her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment as well as posing a danger to her life.The alleged attacker is also facing an
earlier accusation, where he threatened his sister in Dundee and robbed a phone.Miss McGowan, who has been wheelchair-bound since suffering a stroke, was rushed to Ninewells Hospital after
the attack. No plea was made during the short hearing today.Judge Lord Mulholland will continue the case until next month.
