After formally taking office, President Trump roared "we will make America great again" as he pledged to give the power back to the people. The businessman declared: “Today’s
ceremony has very special meaning. We are not just transferring power from one party to another. “We are transferring power from Washington DC and giving it back to you, the people. We the
citizens of America are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people. "Together we will determine the course of America
and the world for many, many years to come. We will face challenges, we will confront hardships, but we will get the job done." President Trump added: "No challenge can match the
fight, and heart and spirit of America. We will not fail, our country will thrive and prosper again." A defeated Hillary Clinton attended the inauguration ceremony with her husband
Bill Clinton, as well as Barack Obama and former president George W. Bush. Despite appearing stone-faced as the businessman became the leader of the free world, Mrs Clinton tweeted before
the ceremony: "I'm here today to honor our democracy & its enduring values. I will never stop believing in our country & its future." Just hours before the
inauguration ceremony, violent protests erupted in the streets of Washington and officers were forced to deployed tear gas to dispatch the rowdy crowds. And more demonstrations are expected
throughout the weekend as disgruntled Americans vowed to wreak havoc in protest of President Trump’s entering the Oval Office.
