BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty, 43, suffered a coughing fit live on air this morning. The incident began whilst Mike Bushell, 52, was reporting on the news from the sporting world.
Viewers could hear the veteran presenter struggling to contain her cough while Mike was presenting his segment. Mike, who was discussing how well Jordan Sancho has been performing for
Borussia Dortmund in Germany, began: "So, he’s been a substitute, he’s come on, made an impact, done better than any other substitute anywhere else in Europe from the top five leagues
this season, and he’s only 18.” However, mid-sentence Naga's coughing fit began. “Sorry, Mike,” said Naga in between coughs. “No, not at all,” Mike replied. “Do you want some water?” he
asked looking concerned for his colleague. Eventually Naga left the BBC set to fetch a glass of water. “Oh, poor Naga,” he said before continuing to report the sporting news. Naga continued
to cough during his segment, and she was forced to leave the set. Charlie Stayt had to present the show on his own whilst Naga tried to stop her coughing fit. Naga eventually did return to
the set once her coughing fit had subsided. It's been a week of laughter for Naga, who left BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood gobsmacked on yesterday’s show following a joke she made
about plastic straws. "When was the last time you drank out of a straw?" Naga asked Carol. “Oh my goodness. 1921? A long time ago,” Carol laughed as she tried to remember the last
time she used one. "Really? Oh, so you wouldn’t use a straw when you’re in a bar?" Naga replied. Carol explained: “I prefer a glass,” to which Naga quipped back: “Chug it straight
down. Chug it straight down do you? Oh, there you go.” Carol then gasped in complete shock as she tried to decipher what Naga had said. She asked: “You are talking about… soft drinks?” _BBC
