Netflix’s latest Spanish-language drama Elite was released on Netflix today (Friday, October 5).

It sees three working-class teens joining a fancy private school in Spain, leading to threats, fights and eventually murder.

Elite is already getting praise from the critics, with Vogue calling it “your new trashy Euro teen soap obsession".

Here’s how many episodes there are of Elite streaming on Netflix now.

All eight episodes were released early this morning onto the streaming service.

HOW TO WATCH ELITE ONLINE

The series is the latest Spanish-language drama to get an international release on Netflix.

It follows the success of Cable Girls (in its third season), The House of Flowers and El Chapo (also in its third season).

Netflix have not yet announced whether there will be a second season of Elite.

If there is to be a second season, Netflix should announce it in a few months after they have had time to gather the mysterious metrics they use to decide which series to renew.

The official synopsis reads: “Las Encinas is the best and most exclusive school in Spain, where the elite send their children to study.

“It is also where three working-class kids have just been admitted.

“This is after their academy was destroyed by an earthquake and the local council divided up the students between the different schools in the area.

“The clash between those who have everything and those who have nothing to lose creates the perfect storm that ultimately ends in a murder. Who is behind the crime?”

WHERE IS ELITE FILMED?

The series’ tagline on Netflix tells us about another crucial part of the plot.

It reads: “The prized trophy was meant to be awarded to the student in the class. Instead, it became a murder weapon.”

The series is a soapy melodrama in the vein of Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and the BBC’s Clique.
