Coronation Street stalwart Liz McDonald (played by Beverley Callard) hasn’t had the easiest of years on the ITV soap. The barmaid’s ex husband, Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) recently
returned and brought along his new girlfriend, Hannah (Hannah Ellis Ryan) to cause a stir. After blackmailing Liz for money, it seemed Hannah had gotten the best of her but that all changed
once she learned the truth. Although Liz appeared to be getting back on track, her troubles may have only just started. According to The Sun, Liz will be involved in one of Christmas’ big
storylines, which will culminate in a hit-and-run. The mysterious criminal will mow down the beloved character and it is currently unknown whether she will live or not. Reports suggest
Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) will be arrested for the incident but did he really do it? Eyes will also be cast over his wife Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews), which would be fitting since Liz
and Johnny recently had an affair. It is thought the hit-and-run incident will lead to Coronation Street residents boycotting the Rovers Return until Johnny leaves. ITV haven’t confirmed
the storyline just yet, but have previously spoken out about their upcoming Christmas storylines on the long-running drama. Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy in October how festivities on the
cobbles will be undoubtedly “Christmassy”. He went on: “It’ll have some big, heart-breaking stories within that, it’ll have a big shock at the end and hopefully it’ll be a surprising payoff
to those stories.” Last week, it was announced Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers) would be killed off at New Year. The “explosive” storyline is currently under tight wraps but Metro have suggested
the incident will leave Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) distraught. Furthermore, it has been suggested Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) will be involved in an equally harrowing plot. He will try
and turn his life around after a series of bad behaviour and will excitedly rush to join the Royal Navy. But that move could spell disaster for Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne). It is
believed a boat Simon has boarded will go up in flames while he is on board. Will he be able to get on land before it’s too late? _CORONATION STREET CONTINUES TONIGHT ON ITV AT 7.30PM AND
