The Spanish Princess is the third in a trilogy series that followed The White Queen and The White Princess based on the novels by Phillipa Gregory. However, The Spanish Princess is the only
one of the three to be renewed for an additional eight episodes. The first season followed the arrival of Catherine of Aragon (played by Charlotte Hope) to Tudor England, where she set her

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, showrunner creator Matthew Graham revealed that he and co-showrunner and co-creator Emma Frost had always planned to do 16 episodes of The Spanish
Princess. The first eight are available to stream on Starzplay now. Graham also revealed that the next eight had already been written. Frost and Graham also revealed some exciting new
details about the plot of The Spanish Princess season two. WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END OF THE SPANISH PRINCESS? Graham said: “That [new episodes] would directly carry on. Lina (Stephanie
Levi-John) and Oviedo's (Aaron Coham) story continues and also then we and also then we can start to explore the years of his [Henry VIII] monarchy with her [Catherine] and how strong
she was a queen. “She was a regent for a while and he would go off to war and she would be in charge of the army and the country, even when she was pregnant because he appointed her.” Frost
commented: “That was such a statement of his faith in her and his love for her.” After Catherine saved Oviedo from being hanged, he revealed that the Pope had given written permission for
her and Harry to marry, but Margaret (Harried Walker) had hidden the letter. WILL THERE BE ANOTHER SERIES OF THE SPANISH PRINCESS? In the final episode, King Henry and Catherine of Aragon
defied the Tudor court and got married in a secret ceremony. The entire series had cast doubt on Catherine’s future as the Queen of England after the passing of her first husband, Prince
Arthur (Angus Imrie). Graham also revealed that the next season will look at the decline of their marriage. He said: “And we will explore her increasing, although scientists now think it was
him who couldn’t have males but at the time it would have been seen as her fault. “We will see the increasing problem of not being able to have an heir and how that begins to unravel him
and unravel their marriage and their relationships with each other. So all of that will take us to a certain point.” Catherine and Henry VIII were married until 1533. By 1525, he had grown
increasingly infatuated with Anne Boleyn and unhappy with Catherine's inability to produce an heir to the throne. Henry and Catherine had one daughter together, who would go onto become

Frost and Graham have already written the final eight episodes so the series is likely to start filming soon. In a statement in June 2019 when the renewal was officially announced, they
said: “We are thrilled to tell the next chapter of Catherine of Aragon’s story as she negotiates war, politics and marriage to the most dangerous King of England. “As a company that always
