to have to go beyond the Wall to take refuge. This would take place after, in a similar storyline to what actually happened in the series, Ned Stark (Sean Bean) was beheaded. Winterfell then
burns down as a result of their feud with the Lannisters, forcing the Starks to flee. They plan to take refuge with the Night’s Watch at the wall as they have been followed by the

her son Bran and her daughter Arya. “Hounded by Lannister riders, they will seek refuge at the Wall, but the men of the Night’s Watch gave up their families when they take the black, and Jon
and Benjen will not be able to help, to Jon’s anguish. “It will lead to a bitter estrangement between Jon and Bran.” As a result of not being taken in by the Night’s Watch, Martin planned
