Janet Street-Porter, 73, revealed last week she had been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer after finding out she had a basal cell carcinoma on her nose. Appearing on Loose Women for the
first time since the operation last Wednesday, the journalist was seen with a small scar on Tuesday where the procedure had been carried out and said she was well on the road to recovery.
However, in explaining the next steps following the surgery, she issued a warning to viewers of the ITV viewers, urging them to get checked by the doctor if they notice anything out of the
ordinary with regards to moles and blemishes. Speaking with Andrea McLean, 50, Brenda Edwards, 51, and Denise Welsh, 62, the presenter explained she had been inundated with messages from
viewers who had been also been diagnosed with skin cancer. When Janet first noticed a small dot on her nose, she believed it to be a mosquito bite and it was only when she went to the
doctor’s she received her diagnosis. Urging viewers to do the same, she said: “I want to say to everybody watching, do look at all the little blemishes on your skin and especially moles if
they change size or shape or anything. “I always did. I was always really careful. I always put factor 50 on my face,” she explained, before adding: “It can happen to so many people. “I just
want to tell everybody it’s nothing to be scared about and just get it done,” she reassured those watching at home. READ MORE: DENISE WELCH IN TEARS ON LOOSE WOMEN TALKING ABOUT HER
DEPRESSION The Loose Women star was due to have the operation to remove the basal cell carcinoma three days before the lockdown was enforced across the UK. Explaining her diagnosis last
week, the presenter admitted she was getting “more and more anxious” about the surgery as the weeks rolled by during the coronavirus crisis. However, speaking with her colleagues for the
first time since the procedure, Janet had a completely different take on her health. Asked by co-star Andrea how she was doing, the journalist replied: “I’m fine, thank you very much.” “At
the end of the day, it’s just a scar and I’ve still got a nose and a face and everything else and I’m very positive about it,” she continued. Taking to Twitter, viewers voiced their support
for Janet as one wrote: “Janet you are just absolutely remarkable. “I love your positivity!!! So glad you're doing well xx,” they continued, with others adding to the sentiment. Another
added: “Love and big hugs Janet you are the loveliest best loose woman ever and I only watch when you are on, and that's the truth xxx.” Janet made her first appearance on television
since the operation yesterday when she spoke as a guest on This Morning. Asked about her operation as she was seen with a bandage on her nose, the presenter said: “I’m gonna be lifting the
plaster off and talking about it on Loose Women on [Tuesday], but I’m fine. “I did have a white plaster on and I thought this one was a bit more aesthetically pleasing, but now I can see
myself, it looks frightening! “I’m perfectly alright,” she continued, after explaining she is very militant when it comes to protecting her skin from UV rays. _LOOSE WOMEN AIRS WEEKDAYS AT
