Former England footballer Peter Shilton expressed his views to Dan Wootton during Tuesday night’s Tonight Live on GB News. It comes as they discussed England’s victory against Germany during
their Euro 2020 match at Wembley. Before the game, the German players joined the England stars as they took to the knee in a stance against racism. England has continued to take the knee
ahead of every match in the tournament. However, as they spoke about Tuesday’s football match, Peter, who played as England’s goalkeeper, told Dan he wouldn’t take to the knee. “That is a
big question to use a term,” Peter began. “Personally, there are a lot of idiots around on Twitter and a lot of media stations that are very abusive. “We have all had it. But, I think
generally, especially in this country, we are one of the best countries in the world for that type of thing. “I don’t see…things can always improve, don’t get me wrong.” READ MORE: BBC

wouldn’t like to go down on the knee before a game because I think it’s just…there are other ways of being against racism. “And I think it does sometimes stir people’s feelings, it does rile
people up sometimes where we make such a big thing of it. “When really people don’t think there is a big thing there. So, if I’m put on the spot I wouldn’t have liked to have taken to the
knee.” Weighing into the chat, Dan went on to quiz the former footballer on what he felt about the booing of the German national anthem during Tuesday’s game. “I have to be honest, I didn’t
have a big problem with it,” Dan began. “But, again it’s caused one of those social media outrages. “Did you think it was disrespectful or did you think it was part of the England fans
having some fun?” Peter replied: “If there was booing, I didn’t hear it. But if there was booing for the national anthem, then I think it’s wrong.” “Germany is a country that’s far different
to countries in the past and I think the German people are lovely people,” he added. “They like a laugh and they support their country with a smile on their face. “No, I don’t agree with
booing on any team, not just Germany. “I think it’s disrespectful and it shouldn’t happen.” GB NEWS AIRS WEEKDAYS FROM 6AM.
