It's well-known that John Le Carre, who penned the novel of the same name, does not usually allow adaptations of his work to go beyond the parameters of his original work, which would
suggest a second series is unlikely. However, Alistair added: "John Le Carre was very involved in series one and he appeared obviously, which if anything, is a huge endorsement from
the great man himself. "There's a fair wind behind us, from all aspects; from production, from cast, from creators. Fingers crossed because I think it would be fantastic and I know
that everybody is up for it." Speaking about why the drama has been so successful and the demand for the story to continue, he commented: "I think, primarily, we love spy
thrillers and I think instinctively we love the tension that those thrillers can bring. "I think with The Night Manager, it's a wonderful alchemy of taking that genre from a book
into writing for television and then you add in the cast and then you add in the location and you've got this extraordinarily looking television show." The espionage drama, which
sees Tom Hiddleston's Jonathan Pine go undercover to help take down arms dealer Richard Roper, has had audiences on the edge of their seats as they sit down on a Sunday night to tune
into the latest instalment. "I think we have tapped into that anticipation that people are looking forward to and I think spy thrillers and the way that the tension has built up is
tantalising people for the next week. It's like drip feeding tension," Alistair continued. He added that he is yet to watch the final instalment and will be watching it with his
family this weekend along with the rest of the nation. _THE NIGHT MANAGER CONCLUDES ON SUNDAY ON BBC ONE AT 9PM. _
