Dot's grandson was last seen on the Square in 2015 when he was scared out of Walford by Vincent Hubbard (played by Richard Blackwood).  However, with the mother of his child, Ronnie

Mitchell (Samantha Womack) now dead, baby Matthew has been locked after by Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).  Rumours have been rife that Charlie would return to the Square after worried Dot

(June Brown) was seen trying, but failing, to make contact with him.  Now, Declan is back on set and has been spotted filming with Jake Wood, who plays Jack's troublemaking brother  Max

Branning.  Although the storyline has been kept under tight wraps, it is thought that Charlie will team up with Max over Matthew in a move that is bound to devastate the whole of Walford.

Fans have been wary of Max since he returned with a dark and mysterious plot on Christmas Day.  He is currently still hiding the secret about the real reason he returned to Albert Square.

However, it seems more a case of "bad boy turned good", recent reports have suggested that Max will be teaming up with a new character who has big and worrying plans for Walford.
