Gunpowder, director of the series J. Blakeman confessed that the broadcaster was game for the moment to go ahead. “We had a discussion and it was always going to be a BBC One show for a BBC
audience but there was never any real resistance,” he admitted. The director added: “All of those scenes are about the characters and Catesby’s reactions - it was a real collaboration.”
