Ruiz Jr pulled off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history when he ousted Joshua at Madison Square Garden last month and became Mexico’s first ever world heavyweight champion. Anthony
Joshua was knocked down four times en route to losing via TKO in the seventh round. The rematch is being slated to take place on December 14 in Cardiff, with November 29 in New York being
treated as the fallback date and venue. But Deontay Wilder, who boxing fans have wanted Joshua to face in an undisputed world heavyweight title fight since last year, believes AJ showed too
many weaknesses in the first bout for him to overturn the result in the rematch. “I think Ruiz wins the rematch,” said the Bronze Bomber. “I don’t feel Joshua even knows how he lost. He
doesn’t even know what he got hit with. That’s a bad sign. He got dropped four times. “It’s going to be very hard for him now because he doesn’t even know why he lost. He doesn’t even know
what shots hit him. He went back to his corner and said ‘what did I get hit with?’. That’s the wrong questions to ask. “He spat his mouthpiece out, that’s a sign that you need breath, he
couldn’t breathe. The referee had to tell him to come and fight, saying it’s not a time out. Yet he still stood. “Another sign was looking over to his corner. He didn’t want to be there
anymore. He allowed the ref to stop the fight. “When you’re in the sport, you can read the signs and no matter what anyone says, he gave up, he quit.” In 2001, Lennox Lewis lost his world
titles after being knocked out by Hasim Rahman. But six months later the Brit exercised his demons by stopping the American in a highly-anticipated rematch. Wilder, however, doesn’t think
Joshua will repeat history. “In my opinion, I think he should take a warm-up because he’s going to be fighting his own demons,” he added. “Even if he fights over here, he’s going to be
fighting his demons. It’s going to be a mental battle first.” Wilder’s next bout comes against Luis Ortiz in October - a rematch from their 2018 clash which ended in a 10th round KO victory
for the WBC heavyweight title holder.
