Jack Catterall will finally get his chance to avenge his controversial loss to Josh Taylor this weekend, with the two meeting in the ring for the second time in Leeds. Taylor defeated

Catterall by split decision in their bout in April 2022, in a fight which almost everyone scored to Catterall as a victory - except two of the people that mattered most, the judges.

Catterall seemed to dominate the majority of the rounds, dropping Taylor once and landing more punches in every single round except one. However, two judges scored it as a Taylor win, and he

remained undefeated at the time.

In contrast, the loss had been the first on Catterall's record, and he looked for an immediate rematch - being pushed back on several occasions and going on to wait over two years to get his

chance.

Taylor has now twice delayed the rematch due to injury. The rematch was first due to take place in Glasgow in 2023 before he suffered a torn plantar fascia. The Scotsman also had to postpone

the bout originally scheduled for April before being pushed back to May 25.

Catterall had been furious that Taylor has held him back for so long, again making him wait another month. But now, the two men are just hours away from stepping back in the ring.

Taylor has lost his undefeated record since fighting Catterall the first time, losing convincingly to Teofimo Lopez in New York last summer.

Meanwhile, Catterall has scored impressive wins over Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares over the past 12 months.

Speaking ahead of the fight this week, Catterall said: "This isn't about belts, this is personal to me, and I can't wait to get my hands on him. I don't like him, I don't respect him and ...

I'm going to end him."

This week, Taylor said of Catterall: "I have never ran from anyone in my life. He has spent the last two years running from promoter to promoter while living off my name. Jack should be

careful what he wishes for because he's getting battered."
