Gower is commentating on his final match for Sky Sports in the fifth test of The Ashes having been involved in the coverage for over two decades. He has been a recognisable voice for all
English cricket fans throughout the years, providing some memorable moments. Those memorable moments are largely highs but he proved during Sunday’s coverage that even the best can slip up
on the odd occasion. While the England players were coming out to bat, he was clearly not ready for the coverage to go over to the commentary team live as he could be heard saying: “Haven’t
got a f****** clue.” Sky Sports producers were clearly left red-faced with radio silence for about 10 seconds before Shane Warne came on to apologise for the profanity. “Sorry about that, a
little bit of microphone issues there,” he said in response to Gower’s outburst. But there was seemingly no need to apologise with the slip-up further cementing a cult status with those
listening on during Sky’s coverage. One person tweeted: “David Gower going out in style.” Another fan wrote: “Hilarious moment on sky sports cricket, inadvertent open mic moment. David Gower
potty mouth.” A third joked: “Oh, David Gower's commentating on Sky. The kids are around, so after his F bomb, better set the pin-lock” Even Gary Lineker had some fun with the
expletive clip. “Not for the first time in his career, Gower wins the Ashes,” he joked.
