Evra spent eight-and-a-half years at Manchester United, scooping five Premier League titles in the process. The France international was also part of the side that won the Champions League
in 2008 and reached finals in 2009 and 2011 against Barcelona. The 35-year-old left Old Trafford to sign for Juventus in 2014 following the £30million arrival of Luke Shaw from Southampton.
Evra has since added two Serie A titles to his trophy cabinet, but it is claimed he has been made surplus to requirements by Juventus. Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport claimed this
week that Mourinho was ready to offer Evra a shock return - as part of his coaching staff. But Spanish website Don Balon say that United have offered him a short-term playing deal to help
bolster their hopes of landing silverware. It is said that Mourinho wants the veteran to provide cover for Shaw at left-back, with the 21-year-old having struggled so far this season.
Then, at the end of the season, Evra can join the coaching staff for next term. Mourinho's willingness to have the United fan favourite back on the pitch is in order to beat Valencia
to his signature. The La Liga giants also retain an interest but could miss out following the departure of sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch yesterday.
