Iga Swiatek has warned her rivals that she always expected her peak would come when she was aged 24 or 25. It comes after the 21-year-old became the first player to reach 61 wins in a single
season on the WTA Tour since Caroline Wozniacki in 2017 with her victory over Zheng Qinwen in San Diego on Thursday. Swiatek has enjoyed the best season of her young career, reaching No 1
in the world and winning seven titles, including two Grand Slams. The Pole only turned 21 in May, meaning she still has years to continue dominating the tour, and has now confessed that she
thought her peak would come when she was older. “It's pretty amazing,” she said after earning her 61st win of the season on Thursday to match Wozniacki’s streak from 2017. “I
wasn't expecting to have this kind of season this year. I thought, maybe, I'm going to be at my peak when I'm 24, 25, and have that experience, maybe results like that are
going to come.” The three-time Major champion’s confession will likely come as a terrifying one to her rivals on the tour, with Swiatek already a tough opponent to face aged 21. While the
Pole has achieved success years earlier than anticipated, she could go on to become even more unbeatable if her peak is still three years away. JUST IN: ANDY MURRAY'S OPPONENT KORDA
