Jack Draper has insisted the best is yet to come from his tennis and he will return and win a Grand Slam title. But the British No.1 will first have to solve his anxiety issues after
throwing up three times during his US Open semi-final defeat to Jannik Sinner. Draper is up to career-high world No.20 after reaching the last four without dropping a set. Yet his
straight-sets defeat to the Italian world No.1 - who is a year older aged 23 - proved that Draper still has to improve physically and mentally to reach the top. And the Surrey-based
left-hander said: “I’m nowhere near what I’m capable of. This run has given me the belief that I can win a Grand Slam title. My tennis is improving but there’s still so much improvement in
terms of my serve, my forehand, in many areas of my game. “I’ve still got so much room for improvement in so many areas and I think it’s extremely positive for me to know that I’m not
anywhere near my potential and yet I’m still gonna be a top 20 player in the world and making a Grand Slam semi. “Jannik is an unbelievable playerHe’s obviously a No 1 in the world and a
Grand Slam champion and there’s a lot of areas where I am troubling him. I think can be very positive in general. "It's all a process. You have to go through the losses and the
emotions of being there and not quite getting it done. That happened to Jannik. I don't think I need to do anything different. I’m doing all the right things. "I think it's
just a matter of time. I don’t see why there’s any reason why I can’t be consistently competing with the best players in the world.” Draper admitted he is a “big sweater” and “quite an
anxious human being” after throwing up in the New York heat and humidity. “I do feel a bit nausea on court and I do feel a little bit sick when it gets tough,” he confessed. “It's the
worst feeling ever. You can't move around the court when that happens. It's a horrible feeling, and you feel more dizzy the more sick you are. I use up a lot of mental energy a lot
of the time because I want it so badly. I have to continue to work on it.” Draper will now fly home - and wants to play in the Davis Cup in Manchester this week. Great Britain face three
groups games as they seek to qualify for the finals in November. Davis Cup is obviously a huge deal to me,” he said. I'll speak to my team, but I want to be there competing on
Wednesday.” Sinner, who will face American Taylor Fritz in today’s final, said: “I know that Jack's potentially winning some big titles in the future. I think we're gonna see him
much more from now on.”
