‘The Notorious’ will challenge the undefeated Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 229, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 6. Many

were expecting a whirlwind world tour to quickly ensue after the announcement of the bout, which has been dubbed 'the biggest in UFC history.' However, the UFC brass opted against

holding a press tour, instead opting to have a sole press conference for the pair’s grudge match. The promotion last night announced that McGregor and Nurmagomedov will come face-to-face

with one another at a press and fan event a few weeks before their showdown. A date for their scheduled encounter wasn’t revealed, though it's expected to take place in Las Vegas in

September. The presser will be McGregor and Nurmagomedov’s first encounter since the infamous UFC 223 media day in Brooklyn. As has been well documented, McGregor stormed the event at the

Barclays Center looking for Nurmagomedov and threw a dolly through the window of a bus carrying his successor at the summit of the lightweight division and a slew of his fellow fighters.

Tensions will no doubt be high when the duo face off, but UFC president Dana White isn’t concerned about any blows being thrown. “No, I think that Conor came out and did what he did and

didn't expect the results that happened,” White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “I'm pretty sure he's on probation right now in New York. “I think that we're not going to have

any problems with these guys. We're going to have a great fight.” He added: “I’m pretty confident that we can control what happened. “What happened in New York; if you look at when

that happened, everybody was loading on to the busses and everything was done. “And our staff handled it pretty damn well for what was going on and what went on. “And obviously, now

we're very aware and very for that. Nothing's going to happen - we’ll be good.” White is expecting UFC 229 to be the biggest event in the promotion's history, saying:

“Obviously, I think this fight will be massive. This will be the biggest fight we’ve ever done on pay-per-view, for sure. “We were projecting that this thing does two million buys. It will be

massive, it will be fun. “The Irish will be there, which always makes it fun. There’s going to be a lot of Russian’s there and a lot of UFC fans.” McGregor, 30, hasn't set foot inside

the Octagon since claiming the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 205, where he TKO'd Eddie Alvarez to become the promotion's first simultaneous two-weight world champion.

Nurmagomedov - meanwhile - last fought in April at UFC 223, where he defeated Al Iaquinta via unanimous decision to succeed McGregor at the summit of the 155lbs division.
