Flight attendants have to help passengers as part of their job, which can sometimes be difficult. A popular Instagram account Passenger Shaming has captured some of the worst travellers on a
flight. Some passengers can experience an accident or spill something down themselves which can be an annoyance. Thankfully, cabin crew are on hand to help - with a rather unusual method.
Flight attendant Emily Witkop explained how they can use a sanitary towel to remove a fresh stain from a top. She told NY Post: “One trick is not only to use the ever-handy club soda to lift
the stain but to put in on a sanitary napkin (maxi-pad) to blot the stain.” A sanitary towel helps to lift the liquid and the stain without leaving a mark behind, due to their absorbing
nature. Perhaps not surprisingly, some people can be rather disgusted by this. Ms Witkop advised: “You must use good judgment on who you offer this solution to. They will either love it or
be absolutely horrified.” Flight crew have to remain well-kept and clean during their line of work. While many rules have been relaxed, most cabin crew members follow procedures to stay
looking smart during long flights. Archaic rules saw women weighed before being a flight attendant to meet a certain weight. There were also restrictions on the make up worn and the length
of skirts worn. Airlines such as Cathay Pacific have changed their dress code meaning female cabin crew do not have to wear skirts if they do not want to. However, passengers who annoy
flight attendants are subject to a form of punishment, even without their knowledge. One cabin crew member admitted to watering down alcoholic drinks to rude inebriated passengers. This can
prevent them from causing fights and being removed from the plane, something that is on the rise in the aviation industry. Other mean things include farting as they walk past near passengers
while others have unknown codes to complain in front of them.
