Spain is known for being a popular holiday destination for Britons due to its glorious beaches, sunny weather and affordable accommodation. For many months, it has seemed unlikely that
Britons would be able to travel to the popular holiday destination. But over the weekend, Spain announced that Britons will be able to visit the country without being subjected to the
nation’s quarantine rules. Both cities are on the north coast and, if you don’t want to drive any further south, are great holiday alternatives. Roughly, it will take around 20 hours to
travel there via ferry. Driving to the Costa del Sol from Bilbao and Santander will take around ten hours by car. Currently, a return ticket from Portsmouth to Bilbao with Brittany Ferries
for two adults in mid-July is around £430. That is based on two adults taking a car across. The ferry journey is overnight with tickets including a private cabin to sleep in. Brittany
ferries told Metro.co.uk: “Travel from England to Spain with a one or two night cruise on a luxury ferry crossing. “Enjoy comfortable cabins and plenty of on board entertainment including
cinemas, a swimming pool and a choice of quality restaurants.” The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is currently advising Britons not to travel abroad unless it is “essential”. The FCO
website says: “You should not travel abroad unless it is essential. “We are monitoring the international situation very closely and keeping this advice under continuous review so that it
reflects our latest assessment of risks to British people.” However, the FCO advice is under constant review. Flights to Bilbao from the UK are available from £25.
