The Carnival Legend cruise was sailing into Victoria in Canada’s British Columbia when it was rocked by a technical issue.  Video taken from on board showed passengers clinging to poles as

the giant ship suddenly tilted to the side.  The cruise was on a week-long itinerary of Alaska in August last year when the problem occurred.  Steering gear forced the vessel to list some

eight degrees, according to Carnival Cruise Line. The footage showed plates smashed, swimming pools draining and people clutching at furniture in fear.  Passenger Mark Woodward told Inside

Edition: “I think people thought we were going to crash because there was a lot of screaming and crying.”  Thankfully there were only some minor injuries reported from a total of 2,000

passengers and crew on board.  Carnival Cruises spokeswoman Jennifer De La Cruz said: “At no point were guests or crew in danger.” The video showed passengers trying to balance out the

sudden tilt with their own weight distribution.  After three or four minutes the cruise had tipped the right way back up.  It docked in Victoria two hours behind schedule, with passengers

having to remain on board for longer than intended.  Cruise ships are built to withstand enormous pressure at sea, but sometimes they are tested to their limits.
