MSC adds Med calls to Falcon service    Swiss container line Mediterranean Shipping Co. said Tuesday it has amended the rotation of a service linking Southeast Asia with the Middle East and

Mediterranean.    The line's New Falcon service has already begun direct calls at Valencia and Gioia Tauro since mid-April. The service, operated with eight 2,500-TEU ships, has a new

rotation of Singapore, Bandar Abbas, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Jubail, Jebel Ali, Salalah, Suez Canal, Gioia Tauro, Valencia, Suez Canal, Salalah, Colombo and Singapore.    The service previously

did not call any Med ports, and was strictly a Southeast Asia/Middle East loop.    In other MSC news, the carrier said it will begin assessing a peak season surcharge on shipments from

northwestern Europe to the East Coast of South America. The surcharge, $250 per TEU, goes into effect May 15. Correction: Hanjin, Yang Ming China/Australia service    A story Monday

incorrectly reported the nature of a service between China, Korea and Australia. The CKA service was previously operated by Hanjin Shipping, STX Pan Ocean and Sinotrans since May 2008. Yang

Ming will join the service as a vessel provider, operating one of five vessels on the service.
