24 JULY 2002 ------------------------- HEDGE CUTTER GETS A REVAMP TO FIT REVERSE DRIVE TRACTORS McCONNEL has adapted its recently launched PA52E hedge cutter to mount on the rear three-point linkage of reverse drive tractors. Reaching to 5.2m, the machine sports a modified A-frame and mounting position to give closer coupling to the tractor. A new cushioned top link is constructed to absorb shock loads when travelling on uneven surfaces. Not favouring axle bracketry, McConnel claims three-point linkage is the strongest and safest way of mounting a hedge cutter. Three-point linkage mounting is also said to enable the machine to be quickly and easily slewed from work to a transport position. Improved arm geometry, says McConnel, has been achieved using a stronger mainframe equipped with a High Reach King post and Rocker Pillar. The reach and dipper armsare also tapered and seamwelded for extra strength. Available with semi or totally independent hydraulics with rotor rotation control, further spec comprises cast iron pumps and motors. Flailhead choice include Supercut or Multicut versions. Price of the Reverse Drive PA52E is £14,760. &#42 _McConnels PA52E hedge cutter can now be operated with reverse drive tractors.
