A 17-year-old boy has denied sexually assaulting a teenage girl in an incident in Billingham. The defendant, who cannot be identified due to legal reasons because of his age, is charged with
sexual assault, attempted wounding with intent, and possession of a bladed article in a public place, namely a kitchen knife. The 17-year-old has denied all three offences during a hearing
at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 28. It follows an incident where Cleveland Police officers were called to a report that a teenage girl had allegedly been sexually
assaulted by a suspect with a knife in the Rievaulx Avenue area of Billingham. District Judge Marie Mallon remanded the defendant in custody. He will next appear at the court on June 5. FOR
