A trio of Teesside beaches will be flying the flag for the coastline this summer after scooping the Seaside Award 2025. Seaton Carew, Saltburn and Redcar Lifeboat Station are all celebrating

being given the top pat on the back this year. The Seaside Awards are run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy and an accolade is only given to English beaches which are safe, clean

and meet the highest environmental standards. The criteria for the awards includes: * Information about bathing water quality must be provided at the beach * A map of the beach indicating

different facilities must be displayed * The beach must fully comply with the water quality sampling and frequency requirements * The beach must fully comply with the standards and

requirements for water quality analysis * No industrial, waste-water or sewage-related discharges should affect the beach area * The quality of a designated bathing water must be classified

by Environment Agency as “sufficient" * The beach must be clean and surrounding areas well maintained * Bins must be available at the beach and they must be regularly emptied * If

appropriate, toilet facilities should be provided and must be kept clean * If appropriate, an adequate number of lifeguards and/or lifesaving equipment must be available at the beach, along

with first aid equipment Cllor Gary Allen, chairman of Hartlepool Borough Council's Adult and Community-Based Services Committee, said: "We're proud and delighted that Seaton

Carew has once again earned this accolade, which is only given to the very best beaches. "It's credit to the hard work and commitment of both the council staff and the volunteer

litter pickers who do such an amazing job throughout the year in all weathers to keep the beach clean and lovely. A very big 'thank you' to them all! "Whether you live locally

or you're a visitor, Seaton Carew is just the ticket for a great day out, with its beautiful golden beach, amusements and gift shops, a host of tasty eating places and the family

leisure area on the prom." Cllr Carrie Richardson, Redcar & Cleveland Council's cabinet member for climate and culture, previously said: "This is an acknowledgement that

our beaches and seas are clean – but also the work that goes into safety, first aid, supporting eco systems and providing information to the public. "I’d like to congratulate everyone

involved – including our dedicated officers at the council but also litter pickers, responsible businesses and everyone who does anything to care for our beaches no matter how small.

Finally, I’d say to anyone and everyone that our beaches are amazing and it’s summer…come down and enjoy!” Allison Ogden-Newton, Keep Britain Tidy's Chief Executive, said: "In

England we are lucky enough to have some of the best beaches in the world. "The awards are a credit to the collective efforts of council beach and site managers, volunteers, residents

and businesses, who should take pride today in their tireless efforts to maintain, protect and improve some of our best-loved and most popular blue spaces." FOR BREAKING NEWS IN YOUR
