Plumes of smoke were seen over Middlesbrough town centre as firefighters tackled a van ablaze. Firefighters were called Whin Street, near Captain Cook Square, on Monday morning as the town
centre was opening for business. Witnesses told Teesside Live they believed the vehicle involved was a van. The smoke could be seen billowing from the centre of the town at around 10am and
died down soon after. A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: "Cleveland Fire Brigade were called on June 2 at 9.45am to an incident on Whin Street in Middlesbrough. One fire
engine in attendance from Grangetown. One van well alight. Breathing apparatus and hose reel in use. Incident ongoing." Cleveland Police said they were made aware of the fire via CCTV
