The Last Kingdom remains a popular choice on Netflix, even after the conclusion of its fifth season and the subsequent film Seven Kings Must Die. Despite many characters' arcs reaching

their end, fans are left pondering why certain beloved figures had to depart. Charlie Murphy portrayed Uhtred's (Alexander Dreymon) romantic interest in the inaugural season. Her

character, Iseult, features in both The Last Kingdom and Bernard Cornwell's literary series, The Saxon Stories. She was a sorceress hailing from Cornwalum, wedded to King Peredur (Paul

Ritter). She preserved her virginity as her husband believed it sustained her magical abilities. Iseult saved Alfred's (David Dawson) infant son Edward (Timothy Innes), cautioning that

his survival would necessitate another's death. Her life was tragically cut short in the first season when the villain Skorpa (Jonas Malmsjö) invaded Uhtred's camp. Attempting to

flee, she was pursued by Skorpa who brutally beheaded her. Uhtred was left devastated, as Iseult represented one of his most sincere loves throughout the series. However, as a secondary

character, her departure was always anticipated. In the original novels, she meets her end at the hands of a Dane soldier who cleaves her head open. Following her demise, Uhtred encounters

several other romantic interests. His love life reaches a poignant climax with Aethelflaed (Millie Brady). He and the Lady of Mercia have shared a close bond since her childhood, which

eventually blossoms into a deeper connection. Although they attempted to keep their relationship under wraps, it was no secret to those closest to them. Iseult's departure was a

necessary step for Uhtred's character development. Since her exit from the series, actress Murphy has gone on to feature in notable productions such as 'Rebellion' and

'Peaky Blinders'. More recently, she portrayed Sloane in 'Safe Harbor' and took on the role of Makee in 'Halo'. On the big screen, she played Trisha Johnson in

the Netflix original film 'Joy'. ALL FIVE SEASONS OF 'THE LAST KINGDOM' ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX.
