Comedy fans have uncovered the 'British equivalent of Friends' and it stars a beloved A-list actor. In a Reddit Thread about British TV shows, a Friends fan asked other users to
recommend a UK-based series that could be compared to the iconic American sitcom. The social media user's criteria detailed that all suggestions must be "set or filmed in the 90s,
[focus on] a group of 20-somethings who: live in the same space; fall in love and out of love; are trying to establish careers for themselves and attempt to navigate the highs and lows of
life". Other Redditors were quick to recommend This Life, which aired on BBC Two from 1996 to 1997. Set in South London, the popular series follows five law graduates as they navigate
their professional and personal lives. The two-season comedy was created by Amy Jenkins, who most recently penned an episode of Netflix's The Crown. The show's team of directors is
equally as impressive, with Sallie Aprahamian (Doctor Who, Poldark) helming various episodes throughout the series. Its cast features A-lister Andrew Lincoln, who has since starred in hit
dramas such as The Walking Dead. He shares the screen with Jack Davenport (the Pirates of the Caribbean), Amita Dhiri (Bridgerton), Daniela Nardini (Vera) and Luisa Bradshaw-White
(EastEnders). Despite airing over 25 years ago, the dramedy is still attracting new audiences. A TV enthusiast who recently discovered the series shared their verdict on social media,
writing: "This show is absolutely perfect. I discovered it 23 years after it was released but enjoyed it passionately. It is amazing to create a show which is so unforgettable and never
getting outdated." A second person raved about the comedy on IMDB, championing it over Friends as they wrote: "Move over Friends this is your more intelligent English big brother.
A perfect picture of 90s London through the eyes of young professionals and ordinary blokes and girls." Meanwhile, a third fan compared it to another beloved show, stating: "Best
series about friendships since Sex and the City. "Although various episodes written by various writers, the characters remain seamlessly consistent. This British series is totally
addictive." UNFORTUNATELY FOR NEW VIEWERS, THIS LIFE IS NOT AVAILABLE TO STREAM FOR FREE. HOWEVER, IT IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO.
